Travel and street photography workshop in Istanbul (Turkey), the city between two continents

Day 1 – Arrival

Arrival in Istanbul, one of the most populated cities on the European continent. You will immediately be immersed in a mix of cultures, between East and West.

Required documents for entering Turkey.
For tourists coming from an EU country or Switzerland, it is sufficient to show a valid passport or identity card. No entry and/or residence visa is required.

Day 2–7 – Istanbul

Street photography workshop with photographer Didier Ruef.
There will be moments when we go out as a group, combined with other times that are freer, allowing you to explore the city individually or in small groups. The photographer and the coordinator will still be available for those who prefer not to go around on their own.

Some interesting insights into Istanbul’s neighborhoods
  1. Sultanahmet: This neighborhood is the historic heart of Istanbul, with iconic landmarks such as the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, and Topkapi Palace. The majestic architecture and ancient atmosphere offer many photographic opportunities.
  2. Karaköy: This neighborhood is known for its artistic and creative scene. The cobbled streets, colorful murals, and art galleries make it an ideal spot for urban photography.
  3. Beyoğlu (Taksim): This neighborhood is famous for lively Istiklal Street, with its variety of shops, cafés, restaurants, and street performers. The bustling streets and constant energy make it a stimulating place for street photography.
  4. Fener and Balat: These neighborhoods offer a true experience of old Istanbul. Narrow streets, colorful houses, and traces of daily life provide numerous opportunities to capture the city’s authentic spirit.
  5. Moda (Kadıköy): On the Asian side of Istanbul, Moda is a trendy district with a mix of cafés, shops, and neighborhood life. The panoramic views of Istanbul’s historic center from the waterfront make it a great place for photography.
  6. Eyüp: This district is religiously significant and home to the Eyüp Sultan Mosque. Traditional activities and the spiritual atmosphere create an ideal environment for documentary photography.
  7. Ortaköy: Located near the Bosphorus Bridge, Ortaköy is famous for its mosque overlooking the sea and the vibrant atmosphere of its craft market. The panoramic views of the bridge and the water add a special touch to photography.
  8. Cihangir: This neighborhood is known for its bohemian atmosphere and picturesque streets. Cozy cafés and the mix of architecture make Cihangir a charming place for photography.
