Day 1 – Arrival in Abu Dhabi
Arrive independently in Abu Dhabi (we can help you find the best flight if needed).
We recommend arriving a day earlier to visit the main attractions of the city, such as the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.
We will meet in the evening to get to know each other and have dinner together. For those arriving on late evening flights, the meeting will take place the next morning at breakfast.
Overnight in Abu Dhabi in a hotel with accommodation in a twin or double room.
Day 2 – Welcome to Socotra... and Arher Beach
Early breakfast at the hotel and transfer to the airport for the flight to Socotra.
Upon arrival, we will be welcomed with a typical Soqotri meal.
Our adventure begins with a visit to the stunning Arher Beach, with its high cliffs, soft white sand, and freshwater streams flowing into the sea.
Before sunset, we can swim or climb the sand dunes to enjoy incredible views of the island.
Afterwards, we’ll enjoy a delicious dinner and spend the night camping under the stars.
Day 3 – Homhil Infinity Pool, Hoq Cave, and Erissel
Today we explore the Infinity Pool.
Homhil’s Infinity Pool is located in one of Socotra’s most attractive protected areas. Here we will find a rich stretch of Socotri trees, including the iconic Dragon Blood Trees, in the midst of a breathtaking natural environment. It is an extraordinary journey through rare species and serene natural pools. We can choose to return on foot or by car for lunch.
After lunch, we venture into the mysterious depths of Hoq Cave, renowned for its stalagmites, stalactites, and fascinating rock formations. This untouched natural wonder offers a truly immersive experience, without artificial lights or paved paths.
In the afternoon, we head to Ras Erissel, the easternmost point of the island, where we will have the opportunity to relax, spot crabs, and enjoy an unforgettable sunset.
At night, we gather for a delicious dinner and evening together.
Day 4 – Kilisan and Dihamri
In the morning we head to Kilisan Wadi, the largest natural freshwater basin on the island. This enchanting location is framed by endemic trees and dramatic white limestone cliffs. Keep your eyes open for the endemic chameleons that call this place home!
We’ll spend the morning soaking up the beauty of the wadi, swimming in its crystal-clear waters or cliff-jumping for an adrenaline rush.
In the afternoon, our adventure continues to the Dihamri Marine Reserve. Located on the northern coast of Socotra, this protected area is a paradise for snorkelers, offering some of the island’s most exquisite underwater views. A dive master will be available for those wishing to scuba dive (equipment available for rent).
Here, whether snorkeling or diving, you may encounter marine life such as sea turtles, octopus, leopard moray eels, colorful parrotfish, and many more.
The day ends with dinner, followed by a peaceful night under the stars at the beachside Dihamri campsite.
Day 5 – Zahek
Today we cross Socotra Island towards the vast southern plains of Noged. Our highlight of the day is the stunning Zahek sand dunes, featuring a white sandy beach and the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean.
When we arrive at the campsite, lunch will be ready. It’s a great time to find some shade and maybe take a quick nap. As the day progresses, you’ll notice how the changing light transforms everything, making every moment at Zahek special. The white sands seem to whisper an invitation to climb high for panoramic views. From there, the sunset is simply breathtaking, offering unparalleled views and fantastic photos.
We end the day with dinner and an overnight stay at the campsite.
Day 6 – Diksam
We start the day early with a visit to Dagub Cave, a natural wonder shaped by time and waterfalls, boasting beautiful rock formations. After admiring the cave, we ascend to the Diksam Plateau, home of the fascinating Dragon Blood Trees.
As we cross the national park, we will be welcomed by the iconic Dragon Blood Trees lining the path. Our next stop is the Dirhur Canyon, with its lush palms and sturdy bottle trees.
From there, we head to the Firmihin Forest, the cradle of the Dragon Blood Trees. Here we will enjoy lunch beneath these ancient guardians, followed by free time in the afternoon to wander the forest. Join us for a sunset photo walk led by a local guide to capture the incomparable beauty of this ethereal landscape.
Our day ends with dinner and a quiet night camping in the forest, surrounded by its magic.
Day 7 – Qalansyia and Detwah Lagoon
After breakfast in Diksam, we leave the highlands and head west to the charming village of Qalansyia, the island’s second-largest settlement and gateway to some of its most breathtaking views. You’ll have time to explore the area and enjoy the scenery.
We then continue to Detwah Lagoon, a protected area where the Arabian Sea meets the Indian Ocean. It is the perfect place to spend the day swimming, exploring, or simply relaxing on the beach.
After lunch, we will visit a cave and meet a local man, the “caveman,” who knows every corner of the lagoon. He will introduce us to the friendly creatures that live in the area.
Day 8 – Shoab
This morning, it’s time for a sea adventure! We board a boat for a scenic ride to Shoab Beach, a journey of about an hour and a half. Keep an eye out for dolphins along the way, adding excitement to our trip.
Once we arrive, we’ll have plenty of time to enjoy the sun and swim at Shoab Beach, which can only be reached by boat.
After returning to camp for lunch, it’s time to relax and enjoy a well-deserved rest — after all, we’re on vacation!
As evening approaches, we prepare to capture breathtaking sunset shots in not one, but two incredible locations. First, we’ll climb a small hill for panoramic views of Detwah Lagoon, with its hypnotic blue waters and pristine white sands. Then, we’ll jump in the car and drive to a viewpoint overlooking the surrounding landscapes, where we can admire both the sea and the majestic mountains.
As night falls, we gather for a delicious dinner and settle in for another night at the camp by Detwah Lagoon.
Day 9 – Airport
Sadly, all good things must come to an end. We’ll finish our journey on a pleasant note with a delicious breakfast. Afterwards, we head to Socotra Airport for the return flight to Abu Dhabi, arriving in the mid-afternoon. You can connect with an evening flight home or extend your stay in Abu Dhabi after the photo trip. We will be happy to assist with flight advice, activities in Abu Dhabi, or even a side trip to Dubai.
